This course is designed to provide a primary knowledge of natural products to pharmacy students in a professional program and to give some practical guidance in the process of extraction and isolation of natural products. Emphasis is placed on the medicinal uses, pharmacology, and chemistry of these drugs. Complementary and alternative systems of medicine as they relate to contemporary allopathic medicine are also discussed.
